Activities
Short Stay in Jackson
If you are planning to fly in on Friday, and are only coming for the wedding weekend we suggest some of the following activities as they are not "all day" affairs.
Josie’s Ridge HikE: Shorter and steeper, offering a quicker but more intense climb. This hike will require a longer walk or car ride if staying in town.
Snow King Hike:Longer with a better view at the top, though usually more crowded. The trail head of this hike is about a 10-12 min walk from all recommended hotels.
Bike Rides: Consider renting a bike at Hoback Sports. Jackson has over 56 miles of paved pathways that connect the town, Teton Village, Wilson, and Grand Teton National Park, making it easy to bike just about everywhere while enjoying incredible mountain views. Pathway Biking Map. More options are listed in the following section.
Moose Visitor Center & Town of Moose: You can grab lunch at Dornan's (which has incredible views), or the deli for a quick sandwich to take on a hike.
Walk Along the Snake River: The Snake River Dike (also called Emily’s Pond Levee) is a flat, scenic trail that follows the river with wide-open views of the Tetons—perfect for a walk. This is about a 10 minute car ride from town. The easiest access is from Emily Stevens Park, just off Highway 22 near the Wilson Bridge.
MUSEUMS & CULTURE: Check out the National Museum of Wildlife Art, Jackson Hole History Museum, or the Center for the Arts.
Shopping & Exploring the Town of Jackson: Our favorite shops include Womenfolk, Terra, Mountain Daddy, MADE, and New West Knife Works. Lela Rose Ranch in Wilson & Rodeo in Teton Village are also favorites. We also recommend checking out the Center for the Arts and its People’s Market on Wednesdays.
Longer stay in jackson
If you are planning a longer and more extended stay, please reach out to Jess and Abbott! We have so, so many wonderful recommendations on how to really experience Jackson. Here are a few of our favorites to highlight:
Jackson Hole Rodeo: Every Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday night in town. Reserve seats well in advance (sells out by spring). Covered seating is best in case of weather, and arriving early is recommended.
Hikes in GRAND TETON NATIONAL PARK: If you plan to go into the park, please consider renting or buying bear spray!
Phelps Lake: A great moderate hiking trek to the Phelps Lake overlook with the option for a longer hike into Death Canyon. Pack your swimsuit for a cold-water plunge off the locally famous jumping rock!
Delta Lake: Discover this 7.4-mile out-and-back trail near Moose, Wyoming. Generally considered a challenging route. This is a very popular area for hiking, so you'll likely encounter other people while exploring.
Cascade Canyon to Lake Solitude: A beautiful and moderate, but long hike to Lake Solitude via Cascade Canyon. It’s one of the most beautiful hikes with stunning views of the Tetons.
Granite Canyon: Moderate to difficult depending on length of hike. This hike goes to the top of the tram (15 miles), but you can go up as little or as much as you want.
Surprise & Amphitheater Lake: Difficult, but “A Teton Classic.” This 10 mile round trip hike is a Teton classic, but because it climbs about 3,000 vertical feet over five miles it is considered difficult. An early start is recommended.
Boating in the Park
Jenny Lake: Take the boat across and hike to Inspiration Point. A classic, touristy stop — but spectacular.
Jackson Lake: Rent a powerboat from Signal Mountain Marina and explore with the Tetons as your backdrop.
